A Planned Supportive Housing Community for Adults with Developmental Disabilities

 

Mission Independence is planning to develop a supportive housing community available to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities located in South Orange County, California. 

 

Planned Development Description

  • Six (6) Buildings

    • Six (6) Individual Independent units per building

    • Five (5) Residents and One (1) House Parent per Home

  • One (1) Club House with an activity room, exercise room and work stations

  • Design priority:

    • Universal Design (accessibility features such as water controls on outside of zero-step shower, rounded corners, open space, lighting) 

    • Open plan, high visibility public areas (open kitchen, dining and family room)

    • Staff working space

    • Balance between privacy and community integration

    • Amenities (community garden/farm, courtyard, outdoor courtyards, sensory room)

    • Energy efficiency (solar, green building materials)
